Radio ECCA, Fundación Canaria

Radio ECCA Foundation was founded in 1965 in the Canary Islands (Spain), with the mission to bring education to people in remote and rural areas. Over the years, Radio ECCA has transformed into an established educational and learning centre, becoming a national benchmark in the field of adult and youth education. The foundation has based its headquarter in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, but it operates, with additional offices, across the whole Spanish territory. Moreover, through institutional partnerships, it is also present in Latin America and West Africa. Radio ECCA has developed its own distance teaching system – the ECCA System, which embeds the use of ICT and its own radio to conduct its educational work. It has developed >400 distance training programmes (VET). The staff designs, produces, and provides the varied training offer at the regional, national, and international level. Radio ECCA focuses its work on the promotion of adult and youth education, entrepreneurship, social inclusion, environment, ICT, gender promotion, and innovation. Through its action, the foundation can reach different target groups: adult learners, families at risk of exclusion, women, youth, unemployed people, entrepreneurs, migrants & refugees, people from rural areas, etc. Radio ECCA has extensive experience in EU programmes and project management. It is currently participating in 10 European projects, mainly in the areas of entrepreneurship, education and social innovation. Relevant examples are: Solopreneur (Erasmus+) – Self-employability in remote and rural regions of Europe. Radio ECCA develops material and training to support self-entrepreneurs. LEAP (Erasmus+) – Enhanced adult participation in formal and informal learning. Radio ECCA co-creates learning tools with policy-makers to better support the importance of adults’ long-life learning. AprOEP (Erasmus+) – Exchange of good practices and experiences to establish new ways of education. Radio ECCA and the partners explore and promote new innovative non-formal education tools and methodologies. TOMes (Erasmus+) – Language acquisition training of refugees and migrants. Radio ECCA and the partnership focus on language skills of migrants and support their social and labour inclusion. AFRIMAC (Interreg) – Promotion of business, innovation, and technological exchange with West Africa. Radio ECCA delivers courses in entrepreneurship and designs and implements actions for labour insertion of African population in international environments. As for international cooperation, Radio ECCA works in Senegal, Guinea Bissau, and Mauritania, to improve literacy and social and labour integration of at-risk categories. In Senegal alone, Radio ECCA has managed to involve 6,000 women in its courses in the past 8 years. PRISM is a non-for-profit Social Enterprise with the mission to create equal opportunities for the responsive progress of societies, communities and people – acting as a qualified development agent, since 2012, with its operational seat in the city of Palermo and its registered office in Enna, Italy. PRISM represents a co-planning hub, open to public and private actors, for the elaboration of tailored development strategies and interventions, aimed at valorising diversity and sharing the social, cultural and economic resources of local communities, from an international perspective. PRISM annually assesses its social impact, by evaluating all forms of significant change experienced by individuals and communities, following their involvement in our activities as “co-experts”. The impact considers the enhancement of income and the level of integration in the labour market, innovations in the field of education, social inclusion and relationship changes, the effects on physical and mental health and the general impact on quality of life and well-being. The main areas of intervention, contributing to increased social impact are:

  • Entrepreneurship and Employability Raising human development and socio-professional integration, while strengthening the European economic area to stimulate selfemployment initiatives and empowering, up-skilling and re-skilling human resources and efficiency systems.
  • Research, Innovation and new technologies Increasing and enhancing the quality, vitality and creativity of responsive and responsible European action-research, pursuing context related societal functions – planning and promoting solutions and shared interventions.
  • Social Cohesion, Equity and Equality Exploiting empowerment measures in social, economic and educational contexts – seeking to equalize opportunities, for an inclusive and accessible society for all, based on human rights and gender equality.
  • Local Development and Sustainability Promoting the exchange of good practices towards a sustainable and shared development model of interventions and services aimed at safeguarding and improving the conditions of the local environments and the prudent and rational use of natural resources.
  • International Cooperation, Mobility and Youth Improving cross-sectorial and transnational transfer of knowledge and expertise for inclusiveness management and societal awareness, to explore integrated and structured strategies for smart, sustainable and inclusive global growth. The PRISM concept originates from the heart of the Sicilian inland, upon the initiative of professionals working in the field of intercultural cooperation and dialogue, both on a European and international level. As for now, PRISM employs 10 staff and 4 volunteers

Foundation for the Development of International and Educational Activity – FRAME aims to develop and promote international cooperation of local communities supporting education, professional activity and the wellbeing of citizens. It implements the statutory goals thanks to the development of international, national and local cooperation of broadly understood social character, supporting European integration, active cooperation in the development of civil society and democracy culture as well as educational and cultural activities. FRAME is based in the city that is actively transforming into the city of creative industries and fostering sustainable environment practices among its citizens. Our staff organized workshops, conferences and trainings on Circular Economy and Creative Recycling. We have been involved in numerous projects addressing sustainable fashion. Our network consists of numerous organisations focused on sustainability, education as well as in tourism – being both big players like e.g. Fashion Revolution or local active organisactions that make the change happen in the near surroundings (eg. slow fashion brands or environmental artists). We also collaborate with Business Schools and Universities promoting the idea of sustainable development in our region. Simultaneous reliance on outstanding experience of our experts together with the inclusion of networking cooperation with partnering organisations, creates a new quality and synergic value of implementation of new solutions to the observed challenges. The members of our foundation have vast educational, consulting and training experience, many of which with international dimension that will contribute to this project.

Jazyková škola s právem státní jazykové zkoušky PELICAN, s.r.o provides educational opportunities in the field of youth and adult education. The main scope of the organization is to serve the needs of young people as well as teachers and educational communities or people suffering from social invisibility. PELICAN is doing so by supporting, collaborating, and partnering with local, regional, and state non-profit organizations and providing quality products, programs, and professional services. PELICAN closely works with social thematic as inclusion of neglected groups to society, youth, foreigner’s policy, and problems that are current in the Czech Republic. Since it was founded in 2002 the school has transformed from a school of languages to a youth and adult education centre. PELICAN is composed by a team of 8 employees and 10 collaborators and experts from different fields (foreigner policy, education, social work etc.) which provides the coherent approach and vision towards complex issue-solving. PELICAN benefits from the 15 years of experience of working with young people and neglected groups of society and identifying their needs. The association actively seeks for ways how to improve their civic engagement and public awareness. Moreover, PELICAN collaborates with a number of private and state educational organizations and authorities, including universities, adult education centres and job centres and engage over 200 participants every year in various activities connected with implementation and development of educational projects or other events connected to its scope of interest.
